Recovery has a million different faces. It can look like someone walking into their first meeting terrified. It can look like 24 hours clean, one year clean, twenty years clean, or simply making it through another difficult day without picking up.
From the beginning clean apparel has had a special energy, that has affected me and many others in a positive way through expressions of recovery, and age-old recovery sayings, that have been around for years, and new ones that have not been heard. I love this brand because I'm personally connected to it, and of all the recovery apparel this consists of half my wardrobe LOL, there's many pieces that I love but my favorite is definitely the Life on Life's terms shirts, at the core of this apparel, is recovery integrity and spiritual freedom and a beautiful expression.

Since I started wearing Clean Apparel merchandise, I've felt more connected to something bigger. When I came into recovery, I knew I needed to make new friends and build new connections. Wearing recovery merchandise has given me an easy way to start conversations with other people in recovery, and those conversations with other people in recovery have helped me feel like I'm part of a community.
For my one- year anniversary in recovery, I received a custom metal key tag engraved with my name and clean date. Seeing that date permanently etched into something made me realize how real my recovery had become. My clean date was literally set in stone. It gave me faith in myself and made me think, for the first time, that maybe I could really keep this date forever.

When I got clean in 1993, I struggled with gratitude at the thought of having to go to these meetings and hang out with people I wouldn't be seen with on the street, because I was terminally cool. It took a little while for me to realize that the coolest gig in town was recovery. Even though I have purchased recovery apparel at events in the past, I generally didn't wear it everywhere, only at recovery events. However, Chris of Clean Apparel has put cool into our recovery communities, and my favorite shirt is my "Recovery Is Possible" hoodie! Next week I celebrate 33 years clean, and I will proudly be sporting my hoodie.
